The 61st Viennale celebrated its official closing on Tuesday, October 31, with the gala screening of Quentin Dupieux’s film YANNICK.

The Viennale regrets to announce that Catherine Deneuve has had to cancel her planned visit to the festival due to a sudden illness.
The Viennale is pleased to already announce the opening and closing films of this year’s festival.
The festival will open on Thursday, October 19, with the Hungarian film MAGYARÁZAT MINDENRE (EXPLANATION FOR EVERYTHING) by Gábor Reisz.
As part of the traditional closing gala on October 31, the French film YANNICK by Quentin Dupieux will be screened.

The Viennale is pleased to present the festival trailer 2023, which this year was created by the distinguished Portuguese filmmaker Pedro Costa.
Costa, whose work is unconditionally on the side of the marginalized, has been loyally associated with the festival for many years; the Viennale dedicated a special program to him in 2005, and his works are performed in Vienna with pleasing regularity.
