HEI YAN QUAN
I DON'T WANT TO SLEEP ALONE
Recognised as one of the great masters of contemporary cinema, Tsai Ming-Liang has chosen to return to his roots. Born in Malaysia he shot Hei Yan Quan in the dingy alleys, seedy hotels and - a spectacular location - in a half-built then abandoned high rise tower in Kuala Lumpur. Tsai's regular performer Lee Kang-Sheng is a homeless Chinese man who, robbed and attached, is rescued by some Bangladeshi workers. Befriended and cared for by the one of them, he becomes the tentative object of this man's desire and that of a punky young coffee shop waitress.
