As Told by a Corpse

Direkt aus dem Imaginarium des Nollywood Horror kommt dieser Schicht um Schicht dunkle Bedeutung auftragende Stream of Consciousness. Ausgangspunkt ist ein Home-Movie über das gambische Ritual der Namensgebung für die neu- geborene Filmemacherin. Die Super-8-Rollen der Eltern überschreibt Yace Sula mit neonleuchtenden, digitalen Effekten, die die Konturen ihrer erwachsenen Hand erkennen lassen. Sie legt sich schützend über die tanzende Silhouette einer nackten Frau. Schließlich manifestiert sich am schweißbenetzten Körper eine Einkleidezeremonie. (Dunja Bialas)

AS TOLD BY A CORPSE juxtaposes archival video footage of the director's christening with analogue images of their body today. Both have a cloud of glitches, digital noise and other images pass over them. A body can do anything, because it is as fluid as a river of pixels. (Gonzalo de Pedro Amatria)
