Il faut regarder le feu ou brûler dedans

Zorniges Ökopunk-Poem aus einer Welt in Flammen, in der die Vertreterinnen der „Letzten Generation“ in ihren Träumen von brummenden Löschflugzeugen heimgesucht werden. Eine junge Frau auf Korsika füttert mit ihrem Kanister das Feuer mit Feuer, denn „kann es überhaupt eine Welt geben, die ich nicht in Flammen aufgehen sehen möchte?“ Ein kurzer Film wie ein Schlag in die Magengrube, Klimakollaps und virtuoses „flirting with disaster“. Doch wer genau hinhört, vernimmt hinter all den aufgerufenen Feuerwalzen eine radikale Zärtlichkeit. (Stephan Settele)

For years the island of Corsica has been stricken by devastating wildfires. But even if the directors employ mobile phone records of burning forests, they are not interested in the impotent concern known from news broadcasts around the world. Instead, theirs is a film of nervous excitement about a woman in love with fire. Oscillating between music video aesthetics and essayistic reflection, they open up new perspectives on dancing flames. Fire is a threat but also a means of rebellion, for people and the earth. At some point, it becomes unclear whether we’re looking at a film or a fire. (Patrick Holzapfel)
