Yuheisha

Adachi Masao war ein führender Vertreter der japanischen Experimentalfilm-Bewegung und entwickelte mit dem Werk A.K.A. SERIAL KILLER eine eigene Landschaftstheorie. Nach der Teilnahme am Filmfestival von Cannes 1969 fuhr er in Begleitung von Wakamatsu nach Beirut und produzierte 1971 in Zusammenarbeit mit der Roten Armeefraktion und der PFLP einen Propaganda-Film für die palästinensische Revolution: RED ARMY/PFLP: DECLARATION OF WORLD WAR. 1974 verließ er Japan und schloss sich der palästinensischen revolutionären Bewegung an. Nachdem er 1997 in Beirut verhaftet worden war, realisierte er 2005 YŪHEISHA, der von einem Terroristen der japanischen Roten Armeefraktion, Kōzō Okamoto, handelt. Mit der Geschichte eines Revolutionärs, der noch im Kerker die Vision der Revolution wachhält, ist der Film ein Rückblick auf den bewaffneten Widerstand seit 1968 und eine philosophische Analyse dessen, was Revolution heute bedeutet. In addition to his collaborations with Kōji Wakamatsu in the field of soft pornography, Masao Adachi was a leading exponent of the Japanese experimental film movement, creating films such as CLOSED VAGINA and developing his own landscape theory with the work A.K.A. SERIAL KILLER. After attending the 1969 Cannes Film Festival, he went to Beirut, accompanied by Wakamatsu, and in 1971 they produced a propaganda film for the Palestinian revolution, RED ARMY/PFLP: DECLARATION OF WORLD WAR, in collaboration with the Red Army Faction and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). In 1974, Adachi left Japan and joined the Palestinian revolutionary movement. After being arrested in Beirut in 1997, he made YŪHEISHA (2005) about a terrorist in the Japanese Red Army faction, Kōzō Okamoto. Telling the story of a revolutionary who keeps the vision of revolution alive, even in prison, the film is a historical review of armed resistance since 1968 and a philosophical analysis of what revolution means today.
