Gleichzeitig nackt

In Wien kommst du an Strauss’ Donauwalzer nicht vorbei, gnadenlos wird er dir in den Tourismuszonen ins Ohr geblasen. Wunderbar befreiend, wie sich Pürrer/Scheirl daran machen, die „heimliche Nationalhymne“ des Landes zu demontieren. Blechern erklingt sie auf der Tonspur, während die beiden splitterfasernackt und mit ernsten Gesichtern, minimalistischen Hüftschwüngen und tastenden Schritten vor und zurück keine Feierstimmung aufommen lassen: Es gilt zu reflektieren, wer wir sind und sein wollen in diesem vermaledeiten Walzer-Land. Naked, before a backdrop of painted clouds and facing the camera, the directors dance to Strauss’ “An der schönen blauen Donau”. Their choreography has two gestures: three swings of the hips followed by a single step; the concise movements create an alienating contrast with the unmistakably Viennese tune. GLEICHZEITIG NACKT is the remake of a lost Super 8 film the duo made in 1985. The years between these two films invite reflection on aging bodies, changing eras and new ways of filmmaking, yet the waltz goes on: a dance for things that were and things that remain the same.
