Fragmentos de un diario inacabado

Auch dieser Film kommt aus dem erzwungenen Exil, „spielt“ aber in Chile selbst. Denn die ehemalige MIR-Aktivistin Angelina Vázquez wagte im Frühjahr 1983 die heimliche Rückreise aus Finnland in ihre Heimat, um dort private und politische Befindlichkeiten und kollektive Überlebens- und Widerstands-Techniken wie Volksküchen, Straßentheater oder Gesang mit der Kamera zu begleiten. Raffiniert collagiert der Film Tagebucheinträge mit Straßenszenen und langen Statements einzelner Personen. Ein avancierter Beitrag zur Frage der persönlichen Verortung im Film. Und rares dokumentarisches Material von Aufrüchen in einem von Krise und Gewalt zerrütteten Land. (Silvia Hallensleben)

Before going into exile, Angelina Vázquez was both an active Revolutionary Left Movement militant and among the few Chilean women to have directed a film. Her work as a translator for a Finnish film crew in Chile brought her to Finland, where she settled and resumed filmmaking, albeit not without difculties. Years later, she proposed a clandestine return to the natural, cultural and human landscapes which she had been painfully forced to leave behind. What began as a documentary in the strict sense of the word soon also became an attempted act of “unexiling”.
During the weeks she managed to stay in Chile, Vázquez kept a diary that remained unfinished—in line with the film’s title—after her presence was detected and she was expelled for a second time. The production was left in other hands, including those of Pablo Perelman, who followed her instructions and pursued her idea of fragmentation. A story constructed from the multiple voices of the interviewees Vázquez chose to record as living, reflective testimonies, FRAGMENTOS DE UN DIARIO INACABADO is split and fractured, an attempt to wrestle with the images of an author who is, again, absent.
