STROSZEK

Stroszek begins in Berlin where Bruno S. has just been released from jail. He is a kind, sensitive soul and a musician of some talent. Given that he has spent much of his life in reformatories and prisons, he is somewhat naive about the outside world. This certainly doesnt prevent him from befriending a local prostitute and taking her in after her creepy pimps beat her brutally. When the pimps return, Stroszeks idyllic life with Eva becomes threatened and the two of them decide to leave Germany, along with Stroszeks eccentric neighbour, Scheitz. They plan to make their fortune in the U.S., and end up settling in Wisconsin where success is measured in double-wide trailers and the relative size of your colour television set. Needless to say, they do not find happiness.
