Fraternal strife at the Leisthofer’s. When two men court the same woman movie plots become dramatic. ]]>Der Treuebruch]]> tells of the fate of two brothers who fall out over the love of a woman. As the action unfolds we see jealousy, exotic locations, a snakebite, a curse, the death of a wife in childbirth and typhoid. “You can’t get more sensation than that in five acts”, was one critic’s laconic appraisal of this morality play. A welcome distraction from wartime reality.
