In It Happened in Hollywood, Richard Dix plays silent-era cowboy star Tim Bart, washed up with the coming of sound even as perennial leading lady Gloria Gay (a radiant Fay Wray) becomes a leading actress in dramatic talkies. Resisting Gloria's efforts to help him, Tim begins the long, slow slide to obscurity and despair. This terrific behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood - in which most of the era's stars, impersonated by doubles, can be glimpsed - was directed by Harry Lachman from a screenplay on which young Sam Fuller collaborated, adapting an original story by Myles Connolly.
