The WEDDING MARCH

Erich von Stroheim
USA 1928
109 min
V'01

A roguish Viennese prince (played to perfection by von Stroheim) agrees to marry for money and position to help his family, then falls in love with a poor but beautiful girl. A masterpiece, blending romance and irony. (Leonard Maltin)
Film preservationists Kevin Brownlow and Patrick Stanbury have prepared a newly restored print of <i>The Wedding March,</i> combining the best surviving original material from The Library of Congress and footage from prints from the Cinematheque Française. The new print follows the instructions for editing that von Stroheim prepared for a 1954 version screened in Paris, and features a newly recorded orchestral score composed by Carl Davis.
