For this movie Ford successfully adapted the Broadway-comedy by Maude Fulton of 1917 to the year 1931, including language, fashion and political situation. He delivers his very own tumultuous Pygmalion variation, telling the story of a criminal «little miss» who stirs up a well-to-do household with her almost incomprehensible articulation and bluntness.
