For two years I lived with farmers on the Changjiang banks whose two villages were about to be submerged by the construction of the world's largest dam. With a compact camera I documented their lives and the various events caused by the evacuation. Dreams of Changjiang was compiled from over 100 hours of footage. Since it was my first feature-length documentary, it took many months of consideration and editing to finish, but I look back at it as a wonderful experience. I worked with, ate meals with, slept under the same roof and became friends with the people who appeared in this film. (Feng Yan)
