Digna Sinke’s second film is a black-and-white gem that showcases her interest in people’s lives on the margins of an expanding city, whose idiosyncratic way of life is soon to be bulldozered away under the banner of bureaucratic progress. She originally planned to make a series of ten vignettes, but finished just two. The first centres on old couple living in a tiny house with a vegetable garden and some geese in the south of Amsterdam. The other features a “chicken man” who sells eggs at the street market of the old city and could be an extra in an Aleksei German film. (Gerwin Tamsma)
