Groeten uit Zonnemaire

To recover from the end of her relationship, Rina (artist Heleen van der Wusten in her only film appearance) decides to spend a few days at her aunt’s place. But the remote and quiet village where she lives is no longer untouched by modernity in the way Rina had hoped. Digna Sinke’s graduation film from Amsterdam’s Film Academy brought her back to Zonnemaire, her place of birth, and while at the time she didn’t enjoy the struggle of directing, the result is a minor classic. Remarkably enough, the vegetable garden in the film is still maintained by the now 75-year-old director. (Gerwin Tamsma)
