Massimo D’Anolfi and Martina Parenti create a close, exacting study of heavy industry, as men and women in orange vests assemble in the city centre and proceed to travel deep below the surface. Massive machines displace earth as technicians work at lighted consoles, controlling the movement of metal and mass. We are watching the construction of a new subway line in Milan, a feat of engineering comprised of many moving parts. Then, unexpectedly, the filmmakers take a detour into the veins of the human body, reminding us that we too are composed of tunnels. (Michael Sicinski)
