BESTIARI, ERBARI, LAPIDARI
has been active as a video artist and documentary filmmaker since 1993. He wrote the screenplay for Roberta Torre's ANGELA (2002), which was screened at Cannes. From 2003 onwards, he also devoted himself to radio documentaries and festival films such as SI TORNA A CASA, APPUNTI PER UN FILM (2003) and PLAY (2004). Since 2006, he has been working closely with Martina Parenti. Together they have developed a series of artistically ambitious documentaries, including I PROMESSI SPOSI (2006), GRANDI SPERANZE (2009), IL CASTELLO (2011), MATERIA OSCURA (2013), L’INFINITA FABBRICA DEL DUOMO (2015), SPIRA MIRABILIS (2016) and BLU – BLUE (2018). These films have been shown at international festivals such as Locarno, Berlinale, Hot Docs and Venice, and have won numerous awards.
In recent years, the duo has continued its work with new films such as GUERRA E PACE (2020), UNA GIORNATA NELL’ARCHIVIO DI PIERO BOTTONI (2022) and BESTIARI, ERBARI, LAPIDARI (2024). The films often deal with social, historical or aesthetic issues and combine poetic imagery with documentary precision.
