(Michael Pekler)

A music rehearsal for a wedding is interrupted by the police, an interruption that is calm yet abrupt. A handcuffed man is brought before a judge, surrounded by a crowd: is he really in love with his wife? He is accused of marrying the elderly woman for her money. The man has few things to say: the poetry they shared, the conversations they had. How can love be defined? How can it be proved? Like every great courtroom film, WHISPERS OF A BURNING SCENT observes the distance between truth and doubt, between appearances and essences. (Lucía Salas)
