Un movimiento extraño

Das Pendel des Wechselkurses in Argentinien schlägt stark in Richtung Dollar aus. Das macht sich eine junge Sicherheitsbedienstete zu Nutze, indem sie ihren Job aufgibt, Abfindung kassiert und eine spekulative Afäre mit einem Geldwechsler eingeht. Der wiederum pflegt auch mit seinen älteren Kundinnen mehr als nur Finanztransaktionen. Die titelgebende seltsame Wendung markiert gewissermaßen den Höhepunkt dieser ökonomisch erzählten, nüchternen, dabei aber auch unterhaltsamen Parabel auf menschliche Selbstoptimierung in Zeiten erhöhter Ungleichheit. The Argentinian relationship with the dollar is a mystery to all. This currency as fictional as every other is ever-present in conversations, fears, aspirations, moral stances. It touches everything in this film, including the security guard at an art museum. At night, she roams the halls, illuminating artworks with her flashlight like a spotlight or scanner. The film imitates her: Lucrecia moves through the city touching people and places, and connections form between them, creating a perfect miniature narrative where desire circulates like the dollar, always on the rise.
