Die zu Beginn angekündigte Erzählung einer „wahren Geschichte“, zerlegt in ihre Elemente und Bausteine: ein Stein, Frauen, die zuhören, die Stadt, das Meer, Karotten, Sound ohne Bild, Bild ohne Sound, Unter titel. Inspiriert vom experimentellen TITLE des US amerikanischen Konzeptkünstlers John Baldessari aus dem Jahr 1973 reduziert Lertxundi das filmische Erzählen auf die zugrundeliegende Grammatik. In neun Episoden tastet sie sich von der weißen Lein wand bis zur Etablierung von Charakteren. Die „wahre Geschichte“ überlässt sie unserer Fantasie. (Anna Katharina Laggner)

In cinema, one plus one does not necessarily equal two. Drawing inspiration from artist John Baldessari’s TITLE (1973), Laida Lertxundi constructs a kind of shot-for-shot remake, bringing the film into her own universe: a deconstruction of cinematic tools that incorporates her own landscapes, both real and emotional. The shift goes beyond replacing men with women: Lertxundi challenges the formal rigidity of 1960s and 1970s conceptual cinema in a film that celebrates play, life and beauty.
