Sincero, apaixonado

„19. Oktober 2009, ein gewöhnlicher Tag für die Normalbürger“, aber nicht für den Erzähler, der hier beginnt, seine Chronik einer Amour fou mit einer co-abhängigen Frau aufzuzeichnen, samt Traum von einer anderen Zukunft. Jahre später finden die Filmemacher:innen Dauby (CINZAS E NUVENS, V’23) und Domingues (TERRA QUE MARCA, V’22) die Tagebuchtexte des obdachlosen Autors in einem verlassenen Haus, lösen die Bilder von der vielstimmigen Tonspur und erschaffen eine kontrapunktische Collage der kargen Peripherie von Lissabon. SINCERO, APAIXONADO is a cinematic response to a diary found in Fundão, Portugal, penned by an anonymous vagrant. Men’s voices read entries centred on a fractured love story, their words set against sweeping Portuguese landscapes that seem to flow both towards and away from the events and emotions addressed. While the diary’s lyrical allure is undeniable, its masculine, narcissistic undertones are equally alluded to. This homespun travelogue sustains that ambivalence, as it sketches a portrait of Portugal both romantic and self-questioning. (Salvador Amores)
