Die sehnsüchtige Hand liegt noch auf dem Fenster von Friedl vom Gröllers Wohnung, da hören wir bereits das sehnsüchtige Chanson, in den 1960er Jahren gesungen von Françoise Hardy, und schon wackeln wir wievon Zauberhand eine dunkle Treppe auf den Pariser Friedhof Père Lachaise hinauf über eine schattige Allee zu einem Doppelgrab mit ironisch-romantischem Auge-in-Auge-Doppelantlitz, bevor auf das Gesicht der jungen Sängerin Jelena Arrouas geblickt wird (Vom Gröller kennt sie seit zehn Jahren), diese zurückblickt und schließlich alles von Licht durchflutet wird. The lovesick Jelena spends her afternoons strolling among the tombs and leafless trees at Père-Lachaise cemetery. As she sings Françoise Hardy’s “Tous les garçons et les filles”, one old grave depicting a couple draws her attention. By placing its focus on a place and a piece of music, JELENA is a departure of sorts from the cinematic catalogue of visages that Friedl vom Gröller has compiled over the past few decades. The young French actress shown is not the film’s central concern, but rather a vehicle to craft a delicate, unassuming miniature on fleeting, youthful longings. (Salvador Amores)
