Carolee, Barbara and Gunvor

Künstlerinnen, die an jeweils diesen Orten ihre Liebe zum bewegten Bild entdeckt oder Inspiration gefunden haben und mit ihren Filmen einst in eine Männerdomäne eingedrungen sind. Lynne Sachs hat diese Frauen besucht und eine knackig kleine, fein rhythmisierte, von Super-8- und 16mm-Material ins Digitale transferierte Triade daraus gemacht: Carolee Schneemann, Barbara Hammer, Gunvor Nelson. Lynne Sachs gives voice to three pioneering women artists that have embraced moving images. In a tender and intimate triptych she encounters Carolee Schneemann, Barbara Hammer and Gunvor Nelson at special places of retreat and inspiration for each of the artists. Dialogues are started between the artists and the filmmaker, the surroundings and the art as well as the life and work as a woman filmmaker. The most important dialogue may take place between those renowned artists holding on to their cameras and a young generation of women filmmakers meeting them and hopefully following their footsteps.
