Captain Sano and his crew are en route to Mars in their space scooter A-A-B-Gamma. Six previous expeditions had failed, and the missiles and their crews were lost in space. After A-A-B-Gamma gets attacked by UFOs reminding of flying fried eggs, egg-shaped radiation matter sticks to the outer shell of the space ship. Captain Sano retrieves a sample and gets it on board. Back on earth, the egg hatches the monster Guilala, which grows to a size of 60 meters because it absorbs the energy of the weapons used against it. In defence against the creature, an antidote, Guilalanium, is made from lunar rock until Guilala returns to the size of an egg and can be re-launched to outer space. With Guilala, the bizarre, giant green chicken from outer space, the production company Shochiku sought to compete against the Toho studio and its popular monster Godzilla (1954) at a time when the monster wave climaxed in Japan.
