Like every summer, Jean and Marie go on vacation to the Landes in the South-West of France. But this year, while Marie is dozing on the beach, Jean disappears. A few months later, Marie, back in Paris, is trying to recover her taste for life. While her friends are introducing her to new men, Marie stubbornly clings to the belief that Jean will return. Even when a body fitting her husband's description is found, she refuses to face the facts. This masterfully restrained work by François Ozon differs radically from his previous films.
