A remote village in the steppes of Kazakhstan. Displaying the early influence of neorealism on its director, <i>July</i> is a beautifully photographed tale of two boys who try to earn enough money to see a Bollywood melodrama one more time. Desperately wanting to stay on for the evening seance, they decide to support their habit by selling stolen watermelons.
