HYGIENE DER EHE

]]>Hygiene einer Ehe]]> is a unique contemporary source which reveals more about its time than many written documents. It is based on the ideas of Viennese health expert Julius Tandler about setting up a marriage guidance centre on the principle that only “healthy” people should consider entering into the life-long bond of holy matrimony – and thus gain society’s approval to procreate. The film takes the audience back the 20’s, when eugenics theories found fertile ground, as future political developments would show.
