Der Löffel
The Spoon
An allotment in northern Germany, whose bright flowers, buzzing insects and countless shades of green feel a million miles from the outside world. Yet when a young Taiwanese woman is handed a spoon adorned with a swastika over lunch, this summer idyll isn’t so much broken as hauled back into reality. As precise as it is provocatively open, Nele Wohlatz’s latest film once again explores the difficulty of finding the right words, while also alluding to what this might mean in terms of taking action in the here and now. When hasn’t Germany needed uncomfortable conversations? (James Lattimer)
In the presence of Nele Wohlatz and Jenny Lou Ziegel.
This film will be shown as part of the screening Verses From Home.
