Leaving Light

Using successive in-camera exposures of her former studio, Viktoria Schmid transforms light into a quietly shifting field of colour and duration, where each frame holds multiple moments at once. The result is a poignant exploration of the mutable nature of the photographic image, revealing the gradual passage of time. Building on the chromatic experiments of NYC RGB (2023) and ROJO ŽALIA BLAU (2025), LEAVING LIGHT marks another compelling chapter in Schmid’s sustained investigation of analogue image-making, in which she works directly with the material properties of film.
