MANZANAS, TAMBORES EN LA PLAZA und EDGARDO setzen die Happenings an Außenschauplätzen fort. PICHON EN EL OBELISCO und WARNES wiederum „dokumentieren“ verschiedene Ereignisse (ein Drahtseilakt, eine Häusersprengung) in der Stadt. MUNDIAL 78 ist ein ironischer Kommentar zur Fußball WM in Argentinien während der Militärdiktatur mit zwei Personen im Nationaltrikot, die kultisch den Ball streicheln. Wie sehr Musik in Hirschs Filmen für Struktur und Rhythmus sorgt, zeigt COME OUT: Während eine englische Satzphrase, die sich auf Unruhen in Harlem 1964 bezieht, bis zur Unkenntlichkeit in Endlosschleife nudelt, wird das Bild langsam schärfer, bis man das Tonabnehmersystem eines Plattenspielers und die Platte „New Sounds of Electronic Music“ erkennt. Ein ganz persönlicher Film ist hingegen DIARIOS PATAGÓNICAS 2: Aneignung eines Aufenthalts in einer Winterlandschaft mit Schafen und Seeelefanten. (Lars Penning)

Hirsch’s first steps in filmmaking were documentations of her performances and happenings in public spaces. These were collective actions, filmed initially on 8mm or 16mm film, such as MANZANAS, EDGARDO or TAMBORES EN LA PLAZA, which record the reactions of a randomly chosen spectator. During the 1980s, Hirsch made a series of documentary films about various events in the city, such as the demolition of a building in WARNES or the appropriation of a monument in PICHÓN EN LE OBILISCO. MUNDIAL 78 is a humorous depiction of the controversial 1978 football World Cup that took place during the Argentinian dictatorship. The programme begins with DIARIOS PATAGÓNICOS 2, which explores her everyday life, travels and friends that reveal their working methods. It finishes with COME OUT, one of Hirsch’s key works, which, according to Pablo Marín, introduced structuralist filmmaking to Argentina. (Cecilia Barrionuevo)
