Wer LA GOMERA, Corneliu Porumboius Noir-Dekonstruktion von 2019, geschätzt hat, wird dieses Quasi-Erklär-Kleinod dazu ohnehin sehen wollen. Wer LA GOMERA noch nicht gesehen hat, kann SILABARIO durchaus als Einstiegsdroge nutzen. Und wer LA GOMERA weder gesehen hat, noch sehen wird – sich also gewissermaßen gar nix pfeift –, hat trotzdem viel von diesem auf einem schönen Gedicht basierenden Film; bekommt er doch die Sprache Silbo näher gebracht, welche jener der Vögel des Eilands La Gomera auf widerhallende Weise verwandt erscheint. A syllabary (silibario) is set of written symbols representing the syllables of a language. But is there such a thing as a language of birds? How can such an elaborate set of sounds – whether vocalized by birds or dedicated human bird-whistlers – not be language? Or is it, rather, a pure form of sound poetry? Filmed (like Corneliu Porumboiu’s fiction thriller THE WHISTLERS on the same topic) on the island of La Gomera, Marine De Contes’ SILABARIO drifts serenely through a physical space made uncertain by mist and interweaves the poetry of Miguel Ángel Feria into imaginary dialogues between birds and people.
