Morne Fortune
In this experimental documentary, doris duhennois and Mara Chavez consider the colonial history of Saint Lucia, both as a battle for physical land and for history itself. Saint Lucian researchers must petition the colonial powers—France and the UK—for archival records related to their own culture. MORNE FORTUNE is ultimately about monuments and who retains the right to erect them. Some are objects placed in the landscape, while others are written into the land itself as a collective act of counter-memory and resistance. (Michael Sicinski)
