Laberint Sequences

Der Parc del Laberint d’Horta, etwas abgelegen von Barcelonas ausgetretenen Touristenpfaden. Im Zentrum des Irrgartens steht eine Statue der Jagdgöttin Diana mit Amor, der mit gespanntem Bogen auf Opfer wartet. Doch im Versuch, die Mitte zu finden, beginnen die Bilder sich zu drehen, wechselt der Modus von Videopostkarte auf Gruselthriller, treten wir aus dem Geschehen auf eine Metaebene heraus und wechseln gleich mehrmals die Perspektive. Während Williams den Mythos „Maze“ dekonstruiert, erschafft er ihn auf faszinierende Weise neu. Und das Ganze in 3D! (Roman Scheiber)

LABERINT SEQUENCES conjures up truly labyrinthine feelings by way of 3D. A series of attempts to reach the center of a maze evokes the structural avant-garde before the film shifts to two women wandering through another labyrinth in an old Hollywood flick. The juxtaposition of these two cinematic modes and their implied simultaneous deconstruction pushes the film into unexpectedly emotional terrain, closing in on the essence of the labyrinth, the sense of being lost—a timeless filmic motif and a state with contemporary appeal in a world hostile to aimlessness.
