After Work

Holger und seine Wohnung kennen Fans von Jan Soldat schon aus dem Film BLIND DATE. Auch in AFTER WORK geht es um eine Verabredung: Lutz kommt vorbei, Holger erwartet ihn im Bademantel zu einer Nummer unverbindlichen Sex. Wie anfangen? Vielleicht ein bisschen „blasen und hochlutschen“? Dem Vorschlag von Holger wird entsprochen, aber so richtig Stimmung kommt nicht auf. In AFTER WORK werden dann noch ein paar Positionen ausprobiert, doch nicht jedes Date muss einen Höhepunkt haben. Einen Kuss zum Abschied gibt es trotzdem. (Bert Rebhandl)

Jan Soldat’s newest observational short offers another glimpse into the sex lives of middle-aged gay men. Similar in structure of 2022’s BLIND DATE, AFTER WORK considers the mundane poetry of casual sex. Here, Lutz arrives at Holger’s apartment for a hook-up. Although they enjoy each other’s bodies in various ways, Holger admits that “this isn’t my day,” that he is too tired to maintain an erection. Tender and honest, AFTER WORK considers the gap between desire and stamina, something all of us must face sooner or later. We can only hope to accept this reality with Holger’s good humour.
