Dazu eine Soundscape aus Meeresbrandung, Möwenrufen und lustvollem Stöhnen. Die Verzückung des Fleischlichen. Long live the new flesh. Surgery is the new sex. These Cronenbergian epigrams come together in a tableau that reimagines the ecstasy and eroticism of Renaissance sculpture for the future. Or is it already the present? Four women in repose, floating on air mattresses in the sea. Instead of gleaming marble, their smooth limbs, delicately positioned hands and enraptured faces are of putrid-looking plastic. Their nakedness would once have inflamed the beholder’s desire but that is no longer enough. What excites us lies beneath. So we dig in, and the cries of seagulls mingle with sighs of pleasure.
