Valeria Sarmiento is a Chilean film director and film editor.
She studied film at the Universidad de Chile and married director Raúl Ruiz in 1969. After the coup in Chile in 1973, the couple left Chile and went to Paris. In 1984, she won the award for best young director at the San Sebastian Film Festival with her film NOTRE MARIAGE.
