La Telenovela errante
The Wandering Soap Opera
In 1990, Ruiz returns to his homeland for a visit after the end of the Pinochet regime. A first (richly bitter) stock-taking of this travel experience is presented in the episodes of this pastiche, created during a workshop, which takes up the telenovela cosmos in a multi-perspective, biting, playful and highly enjoyable way. The work, which Ruiz did not complete in his lifetime, was brought into a final version five years after his death by a team led by his widow, editor and director Valeria Sarmiento. It's witty and fun, even if a non-Chilean audience is likely to miss many allusions, unfortunately. (Silvia Hallensleben)
On the 24th of October in the presence of Valeria Sarmiento.
