Philipp Hartmann, born 1972 in Karlsruhe, has worked as a freelance filmmaker and video artist since 2000. Before his film studies (completed 2007) at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (under professors including Gerd Roscher and Wim Wenders), he studied Latin American studies and earned a doctorate in environmental economics in Cologne and Brazil. With support from, among others, MOIN Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, he made various award-winning feature and short films, as well as recurring commissioned productions, especially for museums and visual artists; his feature and short films have been presented and awarded at numerous international film festivals, in cinemas, and on TV. He teaches at several universities and works as a programmer and moderator at various film festivals.
