David Bohun, born in 1982, studied production at the Vienna Film Academy. After producing award-winning short- and medium-length films, he co-produced Sebastian Brameshuber’s first feature-length documentary Muezzin (Karlovy Vary Film Festival 2009). In 2018, together with Lixi Frank he founded Panama Film as the result of a joint initiative with directors Stefan Bohun and Sebastian Brameshuber.

2019 Panama’s first co-production Movements of a Nearby Mountain by Sebastian Brameshuber, won the Grand Prix at its world premiere at Cinéma du Réel in Paris. In 2020 Sandra Wollner’s The Trouble with Being Born premiered at Berlinale Encounters Competition and was awarded with the Special Jury Award as well as with four Austrian Film Awards including Best Feature Film. Jannis Lenz’ Soldat Ahmet was part of the Official Selection at Visions du Réel Nyon in 2021. Beginning of 2023, the documentary Stams, directed by Bernhard Braunstein, premiered at the Berlinale Panorama. Later that year, the trilateral co-production The Universal Theory, directed by Timm Kröger, had its world-premiere in the Competition of the 80th Biennale di Venezia. Currently, Panama Film is working on new projects of Elsa Kremser & Levin Peter, Sebastian Brameshuber and Sandra Wollner.
