Born in Dusseldorf in 1958. Studied at the Max Reinhardt acting school in Berlin. After her first engagement at Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, she was engaged by Peter Stein at the Schaubühne Berlin and debuted in Tschechow's Drei Schwestern in 1983. In addition to theater she turned to film and TV productions. The „Actress of the year 1996“ was seen at Wiener Burgtheater, Züricher Schauspielhaus and Salzburger Festspiele in plays by Shakespeare, Schiller, Ibsen, Schnitzler and Botho Strauß. Among others she collaborated with Luc Bondy und Andrea Breth. At  Berliner Ensemble she appeared in the premiere of Yasmina Rezas Der Gott des Gemetzels. In 2006 she undertook a role in Claus Peymann's production of Schiller's Die Jungfrau von Orleans and 2010 in Trilogie der schönen Ferienzeit by Carlo Goldoni.
