Claude LanzmannDirector of    

Born in 1925 in Bois-Colombes. Played an active role in the French Resistance, and later against the French colonial wars in Indochina and Algeria. In the fifties, he belonged to the circle of friends  around Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir. First employee, later editor of the monthly magazine «Les Temps modernes». SHOAH (1985), his nine-hour documentary about the Holocaust, is one of the milestones of documentary.
