Mexico City native Carlos Prieto Acevedo has worked extensively as curator, writer, publisher and consultant on various art and film projects. His own research is concerned with the archive in relation to sound art, music, and film, and how it allows us to form a critique of modernity. Amongst his notable exhibits are “Constellations of the Audio-Machine in Mexico” (Kreuzberg Kunstraum Bethanien, Berlin, 2017; Juan Soriano Contemporary Art Museum, Cuernavaca, Mexico, 2019), “Resurrections of Matter” (Ex-Teresa Arte Actual, 2018), and the monographic exhibitions of Guillermo Galindo and Yann Leguay. In 2014, he commissioned filmmaker Bani Khoshnoudi and sound artist Mario de Vega to make and perform an archival excavation and detournement of the iconic 1968 film, El Grito (Ficunam, Fundaçao de Serralves, Film Mutations Festival of Invisible Cinema), and has programmed, and translated to Spanish, films for festivals and museums, like the works of  French artist (ex-Situationist) René Vienet, as well as Antoine Vidockle’s Russian Cosmism trilogy, for the Museo Reina Sofia.  His notable publications include the Spanish version of Nicole Brenez’ "Introduction to Lettrist Cinema”, the bilingual book "El Chinero, a phantom hill” with contributions by Nicole Brenez and Ariella Azoulay, as well as an essay contribution to the 2016 volume "Viennese Actionism. The Revolt of Angels from Limbo”, published by Fundación JUMEX.
