With his short film Wordly Desires, Apichatpong Weerasethakul returns to the jungle where he has shot his two masterly films, Tropical Malady and Blissfully Yours, to film a story written by his assistant. A story of love and desire, loaded, as always, with poetry, metaphors, mystery and spirituality. A couple escapes from their families and flees deep into the jungle. At nightfall, a song will illustrate the innocence of their love and their search for happiness. Pop music can be heard in the nocturnal jungle. People dance. Playful, sweet, charming, yet also a cinematographic reflection.
