This boxer film narrates genuinely how a hard childhood contributes to the fighting spirit of a later champion. In this case, after the victory, a Soviet post-war biography unfolds, which was indeed widespread but could not be officially told: the father died in the war, Viktor Krochin grew up with a bitter mother in cramped circumstances. His bad mental state tarnishes even the sportive triumph. This honest and melancholic film was black-listed by censorship for ten years before it came to the cinemas in 1987.
