L'udienza è aperta explores the nature of the Italian Justice of our time, its institutions and players. Footage from inside the Court of Naples illuminates the real condition of Justice in Italy. The film puts the viewer in the position of inhabiting such institution, figuring out how the players think, how they live and how they interact to shape the process in which they are involved. Without provoking and judging, L'udienza è aperta shows how justice is not just a political experience but also a social, cultural, religious and personal one. The film uses tangible facts, interviews, dialogues and real scenes of a hearing. The protagonists are: a 70 years old Judge of the Court of Appeal; Elena, the Assistant Judge, a 45 years old woman, funny and volcanic; and the most important Criminal Lawyer in Naples, all of them working together to resolve a process concerning the «Camorra», a mafia-like criminal organization, in the city of Naples. The film is a journey through the daily life of these people, the way they are in the world and the world of the Italian Judicial System.
