TENKôSEI

Ôbayashi Nobuhiko is one of many original independent filmmakers who along with the sexploitation films are beginning to threaten the stronghold of major studios on the motion picture industry through self-funded productions. Although from different backgrounds, filmmakers like Ishii Sôgô whose <i>Gyakufunsha kazoku</i> (A Crazy Family) has just begun shooting, and the younger ones, Imazeki Akiyoshi, Kusuda Keiko, and Tezuka Makoto, have all been affected by Japanese New Wave filmmaking. It seems only inevitable that it would also eventually reach Ôbayashi Nobuhiko.
