PLEASANT DAYS
On a canvas of classical tragedy, Pleasant Days paints a portrait of disaffected young drifters in a drab Hungarian provincial milieu. Péter is confined in a correction centre, but gets leave to visit his sister, Maria. When he arrives at the laundry where she works, he watches, hidden, while a girl he does not know gives birth. Maria buys the child. Two months later, he is released. Péter wants to go away, to the seaside. He works in a scrapmetal yard and discovers that Maya, the young mother, is the mistress of his boss, János. When János kicks her out, she tries to get her child back. Maria, however, suggests to her brother that he should take Maya away with him.
