Femmes entre elles - \"Women among themselves\" - a line adapted freely from Michelangelo Antonioni is the subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub's most recent film, Le Streghe - \"The Witches\". The text is by Cesare Pavese; the narration or chanting or singing by an older woman from Buti and a younger one from Naples. \"What makes mortals laugh?\" asks Circe. And the light comes from heaven.
This film is screened together with Le Genou d'Artemide and Der Bräutigam, die Komödiantin und der Zuhälter on November 1, as well as with Mon coursier hors d'haleine (OmdU) and Joachim Gatti on November 3.
