Azazel Jacobs, son of the legendary experimental filmmaker Ken Jacobs, has crafted a beautifully understated film about love and maturity. Shot in his parents' loft on Chambers Street in New York City, the film features Jacobs' real parents, Ken and Flo, as they deal with the emotional collapse of their fictional son Mikey, played by actor Matt Boren. With a wife and infant waiting in California, Mikey comes up with lame excuse after lame excuse to extend a stay in his parents' loft. Going through boxes of high-school memorabilia and reading old comic books, Mikey seems to be regressing to the point of inertia. Jacobs slyly structures the film so that it is difficult at first to grasp what is going on, till it becomes clear that Mikey is both struggling to grow up and finding it difficult to leave the world of his parents behind.
