After the sensational success of The Ring, another horror picture is hitting the Japenese charts: in a quite subtle way, Ju-on by Takashi Shimuzu, a student of Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Shinji Aoyama, makes dead kids resurge in a haunted house, old people are given terrifying antics and a horrible past is reawakened behind doors and stairways—a great dark finale of this year’s far east midnight program.
